The game starts with very simple border rules. For each mistake, you get docked some pay. You have to inspect their travel papers (passport, visa, diplomatic papers, etc.)įor each person you inspect correctly, you get a small amount of pay. It has a very spare art style with a very simple interface. This isn't a direct analogue to Firewatch, but the same way Firewatch is a story that is told through dialogues, Papers, Please is a story told through mini-games. This one popped into my head and I decided to check the thread before I wrote my own entry. Very immersive atmosphere, from what I heard. There's also the choice-and-consequence element to it, which is far more pronounced than Firewatch. But I've heard a lot of good things about it! It's 2D though, not FPS, if you don't mind. Oxenfree is often mentioned, and I've yet to play it. It veered towards being too cryptic for no other purpose other than to be cryptic. One of my favorite games of last year!ĭear Esther was NOT my cup of tea. Not a first-person game but Life is Strange might also be up your alley. So if you like that whole sense of human loss and love, it'll definitely appeal to you.

I find Gone Home to be a superior game of the two, though Firewatch is still better. Most folks would suggest Gone Home and Everybody's Gone To The Rapture. BUT the story is very engaging, the voice acting is good, and the game is very immersive. It's more horror themed 'walking simulator' than Firewatch. I think expotato got most of it covered! :) It has a less complex story if you're comparing it to Firewatch's narrative plot. Gone Home also has a somewhat more complicated story in that you're learning a lot of information about four other people, and snippets about a few others.

"Finishing" the game simply involves reaching the end of the story. Neither is really a "game" in the traditional sense.
